Description
We should consider presenting a breakdown of genotype components underneath the genotype label on Monarch Genotype Overview pages. Minimally, we could present the background, affected genes, and alleles/transgenes, as shown below. We have already done the work to generate each piece of a genotype, and presenting a breakdown would make it much clearer to users what features in the genome are variant - given that genotype syntaxes are complex, and we have invented a new one to standardize the diverse MOD syntaxes.
For example, we might present something like the following for this genotype:
smo<hi1640Tg>/smo<hi1640Tg>; <zf5Tg>/<?> [involves: BALB/c * C57BL/6J]
Genomic Background: involves: BALB/c * C57BL/6J
Affected Endogenous Genes: smo
Alleles and Transgenes: hi1640Tg (homozygous), zf5Tg (zygosity unspecified)
Lots of other ways we could present this, and additional data we could show from our genotype partonomy tables in Genotype Overview tabs (which are pretty empty right now). . . maybe even present a visualization of the genome showing the locations of each allele once we have this functionality.
